Oman has proposed two separate maritime routes in Hormuz to Iran, which has expressed concerns.
Muscat: (Right Now News) Oman has proposed two separate maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz to Iran. Iranian officials have expressed concerns over this proposal.
Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed the proposal again. One route would pass through Iran’s territorial waters, and the other through Oman’s.
In past negotiations, Iran emphasized a joint management system involving both countries, but Oman insists on separate management.
Iranian officials fear that separate management might lead more ships to prefer Omani waters, reducing Iran’s influence.
It is important to note that no final agreement has been reached between the two countries, and various proposals are still under consideration.
