Islamabad: (Right Now News) Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has declared healthcare a national security issue. He stated that Pakistan is moving towards becoming number one in every disease.

During a press conference on genome profiling in Islamabad, Mustafa Kamal emphasized the need for Pakistan to adopt modern technology. He mentioned that while there is no epidemic, the condition of hospitals resembles that of an epidemic.

He further stated that 200 to 300 billion rupees are spent annually on these diseases. People have to spend millions on tests abroad. He complained about budget cuts but assured that they will not lose hope.

The Health Minister announced that pre-marriage screening is being made mandatory, with centers being established for this purpose.

It is noteworthy that the country is set to become the fourth largest population by 2030. Mustafa Kamal identified brain drain as a major issue, stating that no country can afford brain drain.
