New York: (Right Now News) United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that the organization is on the brink of bankruptcy. There is a risk of running out of cash by mid-August.

According to reports, the USA and China, major financial contributors to the UN, are withholding their due payments. This has further deteriorated the UN’s financial condition.

The USA has not made payments amounting to approximately 4 billion dollars and has withdrawn from several UN programs and agencies. In contrast, China has recently paid 850 million dollars.

China still owes 455 million dollars, exacerbating the financial crisis. The UN receives 42% of its funding from the USA and China, and disruptions in their payments pose serious threats to the organization.

It is noteworthy that due to the financial crisis, the UN has had to cut 3,000 jobs and close several offices. Peace missions have been affected, and payments to troop-contributing countries have been delayed.
