Islamabad: (Right Now News) The Competition Appellate Tribunal has upheld the CCP’s fine on Strepsils for misleading marketing. The company is required to pay a fine of 30 million rupees.

The tribunal stated that Reckitt Benckiser misled consumers regarding the product. Strepsils was marketed as a medicated product, although it is registered as a non-medicated food item.

According to the tribunal, following the commission’s action, the company has made changes to packaging and warnings. The non-medicated warning is now prominently displayed in both Urdu and English.

The company has been instructed to inform the public about the change in Strepsils’ status. It will publish advertisements in at least three Urdu and three English newspapers.

It should be noted that the CCP is committed to protecting consumers from misleading marketing. This decision will enhance transparency in advertisements and strengthen consumers’ right to informed choices.
