Oman: (Right Now News) The United States has warned Oman that a toll system in the Strait of Hormuz will not be accepted. US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant stated that those attempting to collect tolls will be targeted strictly.

Scott Besant mentioned that he discussed the Strait of Hormuz with the Omani ambassador. According to him, President Trump wanted to clarify the issue of freedom of navigation.

Besant said the Omani ambassador assured him there are no plans to implement a toll system in the Strait of Hormuz.

On Thursday, Besant declared that the US opposes any illegal toll system in the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that countries participating in such attempts would face sanctions.

Besant further stated that countries supporting Iran might also face sanctions. US officials urged the international community to reject Iran’s disruptive efforts.

He claimed that Tehran’s policy of terror in the region is nearing its end. The US will continue efforts to protect free maritime trade in the region.

The statement from the US Treasury Secretary follows Trump’s recent threats against Oman. Trump used strong language regarding Oman.

It is noteworthy that tensions between Iran and the US have affected maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. This has led to increased global oil prices and heightened insecurity in the region.
