Islamabad: (Right Now News) DRAP has launched a strict crackdown on the illegal sale of online drugs. The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has requested the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block websites and social media pages promoting and selling illegal drugs.

DRAP has identified several online platforms involved in selling smuggled drugs from India and Iran. The authority has warned that unregistered and smuggled drugs pose a serious threat to public health.

Officials stated that the online sale of drugs for sexual health, weight loss, and mental disorders is illegal. Advertising on social media is encouraging self-medication, which can lead to further risks.

The authority clarified that advertising drugs without permission violates drug laws. Substandard drugs can cause life-threatening complications.

It should be noted that DRAP has demanded PTA collaborate with social media companies to remove illegal advertisements and advised the public to avoid purchasing drugs from unverified sources.
