Experts explain the differences between common headaches and migraines, emphasizing the need for medical consultation if symptoms persist.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Medical experts state that common headaches and migraines are not the same. Common headaches manifest as symptoms, while migraines are a neurological (a’saabi nizaam) condition.
According to experts, understanding the nature, duration, and symptoms of the pain can differentiate the two. Common headaches usually involve pressure or mild discomfort across the head.
Migraine pain often feels like a throbbing sensation, typically on one side of the head. It may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound.
A migraine attack can last from 4 to 72 hours, with neurological (a’saabi) symptoms like aura appearing in some patients. These symptoms do not occur in every patient.
It is important to note that if headaches are frequent or affect daily life, consulting a doctor is necessary. Seek immediate medical help if sudden severe pain or new symptoms appear.
