YouTube is testing AI-generated video summaries for desktop users in the US, enhancing search results with the Ask YouTube feature.
United States: (RightNow) YouTube has launched a trial of its conversational feature, Ask YouTube, in desktop search results. This feature presents AI-generated summaries to users before they click on a video.
This initiative is part of Google’s efforts to integrate generative AI into its video platform. Previously, YouTube introduced this feature for mobile users.
According to YouTube, the feature is being tested with selected users in the US who search in English and are signed into their accounts.
Instead of traditional video lists, AI-generated detailed reviews will be provided for certain queries. These include specific questions related to explanations or skill teaching.
It is important to note that the AI summaries will include written guidance along with key video segments and timestamps. Users can click on Show more to view the complete response.
