OpenAI introduces a hidden watermark in ChatGPT to identify AI-generated content.
Brussels: (RightNow) OpenAI announces the inclusion of a hidden watermark in ChatGPT and Codex writings. This watermark will enable the identification of AI-generated content, determining whether the text is human-written or not.
According to the company, this watermark will not be visible to the average person, but can be detected using special tools. OpenAI states that there will be no significant difference between content created with or without the watermark.
This system, called ‘Text Green’, is initially being introduced in the European Union. OpenAI has no immediate plans to mandate its implementation worldwide.
It is noteworthy that under the European Union’s AI Act, generative AI companies must ensure that AI-generated content can be identified by machines.
Other AI companies like Google DeepMind and Anthropic are also working on similar systems.
