Pakistan decides to secure three LNG cargoes from Qatar to ensure uninterrupted energy supply amid uncertainty.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Due to uncertainty in energy supply via the Strait of Hormuz, the government has decided to secure three LNG cargoes from Qatar in October. This step aims to ensure uninterrupted energy supply.
Sources indicate that the government is also preparing to contact Iranian authorities to avoid potential disruptions in maritime routes. This move is considered crucial for safe energy delivery.
The decision comes as Qatar Energy extended the force majeure period for LNG supply to Pakistan until November 4. Following this extension, the government has started considering immediate actions.
Officials have expressed concerns that this energy uncertainty may continue into the upcoming winter. As a result, immediate alternative measures are being taken to address the potential gas crisis in the country.
It is important to note that a significant portion of Pakistan’s energy needs relies on imported LNG, and any disruption in its supply could lead to economic challenges.
