Washington: (RightNow) Ukraine has appealed to the US to impose sanctions on Russian companies and individuals involved in the development of the new Russian satellite network ‘Rasvet’. This request was made by Ukraine’s acting ambassador, Denis Senik.

In Moscow, the ‘Rasvet’ network is rapidly being developed and is planned to be operational by 2027. According to Ukraine, this network could provide Russia with additional capabilities to monitor Ukrainian targets.

Ukraine states that the development of ‘Rasvet’ poses serious threats to its security. The network is being considered as Russia’s alternative to Elon Musk’s Starlink.

It is noteworthy that in March, 16 low-orbit satellites of ‘Rasvet’ were launched, with plans to increase the number to 900 in the coming years.

Ukraine has announced that it will impose national sanctions on entities associated with ‘Rasvet’ and will provide the US with details of the relevant companies and individuals.
