Karachi: (RightNow) A bridge under construction for the Red Line project near Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal has collapsed. The incident resulted in the death of one person, with fears that several others may be trapped under the debris.

Rescue 1122 immediately dispatched teams to the site to search for individuals buried under the rubble. The teams are actively engaged in the rescue operation.

According to the spokesperson, the deceased was a security guard on duty at the site. Initially, the police considered it a structural collapse incident.

Police state that there is a possibility of more people being trapped, hence the rescue activities are ongoing. The causes of the accident are also being investigated.

It is noteworthy that the Red Line project aims to improve Karachi’s transport system and includes several bridges and underpasses.
