Islamabad: (RightNow) Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, announces that the policy for scheduling cases is now available on the website. He stated that cases are no longer scheduled based on personal requests.

At the inaugural ceremony of the new judicial year, Justice Yahya Afridi revealed that two officers recheck the cases appearing on the cause list. He emphasized that the judiciary’s success is linked to public trust and the delivery of justice, not just the number of decisions.

Chief Justice Afridi mentioned that sometimes a bench handles up to 75 cases in a day. He stressed the importance of focusing on better case management rather than merely disposing of cases. Every citizen should be treated with respect during court appearances and provided justice.

Justice Yahya Afridi announced the formation of a bench for urgent hearing requests, which will also hear cases in the evening. He added that the Shariat Appellate Bench will convene for one week every two months.

It is noteworthy that the Chief Justice has shown commitment to improving case management and institutional performance in the new judicial year. He also clarified that there is a misconception about judges’ vacations, stating that judges take only one month off every three months.
