Kabardino-Balkaria: (RightNow) An avalanche on Mount Mizhergi in Russia’s northern Caucasus has killed at least 11 climbers and left 6 missing. The incident occurred in the Bezengi Gorge, where a group of 33 climbers was present.

According to media reports, 33 climbers were at the site during the avalanche. Ten individuals managed to reach safety, while 6 injured were transported to the hospital.

Over 50 rescue workers are involved in the operation. The search is challenging due to the rugged terrain and the risk of further avalanches.

This incident is significant as the area is popular with climbers, impacting tourism. Russian authorities have also initiated an investigation into the event.
