Islamabad: (RightNow) A recent survey reveals that only 2% of women in Pakistan own land. Despite 67% of working women being engaged in agriculture, their land ownership remains significantly low.

According to the Sustainable Development Policy Institute report, only 1.5% of agricultural households are officially headed by women. In Sindh, 99.1% of women do not own land, either individually or jointly.

The report highlights that women face gender disparities in financial and digital sectors. While 56% of men have full financial accounts, only 14% of women do.

It is evident that women also face climate risks. In the past five years, 9 out of 10 women farmers have encountered severe climatic events.

Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate risks. Women’s financial inclusion is linked to agricultural resilience and economic stability.
