Karachi: (RightNow) The Federal Constitutional Court has requested an audit report in the next session regarding the construction of residential plots on charitable land in Karachi. This follows an NGO’s appeal against the Sindh High Court’s decision.

A lawyer informed the court that the land was allocated for charitable purposes in 1982. The court questioned what services justified the allocation of a 2,000-yard plot.

The Additional Advocate General stated the land was designated for a school, but the applicant developed residential plots. The Zakat Committee Chairman lacked the authority for such allotment.

The Federal Constitutional Court demanded details of the NGO’s funding sources and audit. The court expressed dissatisfaction, insisting on clarity regarding funding sources.

It is noteworthy that the NGO appealed against the Sindh High Court’s decision, which allowed the construction of residential plots on charitable land.
