Abkhazia: (RightNow) Veriovy Kina Cave has been declared the world’s deepest cave. Located in the disputed region of Abkhazia, Georgia, it measures 2,212 meters deep.

Experts state that the depth of Veriovy Kina Cave rivals that of Krubera Cave. Both caves exceed 2,000 meters in depth and their measurements are periodically updated.

These caves are uninhabitable with temperatures not exceeding 3 degrees Celsius. The creatures found here lack eyes but can move in darkness.

Veriovy Kina Cave was discovered in 1968 and was declared the deepest cave in January 2026. Its extraordinary depth and complex system are of significant interest to experts.

It is noteworthy that this region is characterized by limestone, where water flow over thousands of years has created these caves. As a result, several deep caves exist here.
