Karachi: (RightNow) Senior associate professors at JSMU protest the employment extension of Dr. Nighat, daughter of former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. Professors have written to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and others expressing their concerns.

The professors stated in the letter that Dr. Nighat’s reappointment was made under the PMDC’s May 19 notification. However, the second paragraph of this notification was ignored, affecting the promotions of 6 associate professors.

Professors argue that contrary to PMDC’s clear instructions, retired faculty are being reappointed, which should not affect others’ promotions. They have expressed serious concerns over this issue.

This matter is significant as it hinders the institution’s progress and overlooks eligible professors, damaging the institution’s reputation. Professors have urged relevant authorities for immediate action.

It is noteworthy that the letter was written by Dr. Shazia Naseeb, Dr. Maimoona Rehman, and Dr. Shafiq Ismail. The letter also bears the signatures of Dr. Ameema Akhtar, Dr. Mah Rukh Haider, and Dr. Saira Sheikh.
