Islamabad: (RightNow) The Oil Tankers Contractors Association’s 72-hour ultimatum has proven effective. The Petroleum Minister has assured a meeting with the Oil Tankers Contractors Association.

The meeting between the Association’s President, Abidullah Afridi, and the Petroleum Minister is scheduled for July 27. According to Express News, this meeting is expected on Monday.

The Oil Tankers Association stated in a joint press conference that if the government accepts their demands, an announcement will be made; otherwise, a future course of action will be declared.

Tanker owners demanded the immediate cessation of commercial loading and an increase in fares proportional to the 180% rise in toll taxes.

It is noteworthy that negotiations have been ongoing for the past one and a half years, with OGRA and the Petroleum Division forcing the strike. If demands are not met, oil tankers will halt operations across Pakistan.
