Multan: (RightNow) Senior politician Javed Hashmi and his two sons-in-law face charges of alleged electricity theft in Multan. Police have registered separate cases at Makhdoom Rasheed police station.

According to MEPCO (Multan Electric Power Company) spokesperson, electricity theft was detected at various locations where the accused were using direct connections. The spokesperson stated that electricity meters have been seized and legal proceedings have commenced.

Electricity to Javed Hashmi’s residence was cut off on Saturday evening. Police are conducting further investigations to gather more details on the electricity theft allegations.

This issue is significant as electricity theft cases contribute to substantial energy losses in the country, negatively impacting the economy.

It is noteworthy that Javed Hashmi has been a prominent figure in Pakistan’s politics, and such allegations could complicate his political career.
