Peshawar: (RightNow) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Soohail Afridi warns against the imposition of federal taxes in merged districts, threatening a strong reaction if the decision is not reversed.
Soohail Afridi, addressing a grand jirga, stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is not imposing taxes in merged districts, and sales tax on services is being abolished in Malakand Division.
He praised the cooperation of provincial political leaders, noting that the political culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is changing, with unity on public issues.
The Chief Minister announced the formation of a high-level delegation for negotiations with the federal government, warning of severe backlash if the tax decision is not withdrawn.
It is noteworthy that public interest is the government’s top priority, and a provincial action plan has been prepared to combat terrorism, which aims to improve the security situation.
