Karachi: (RightNow) Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announces free solar home systems for 275,000 poor families in the province. The project aims to expedite the distribution and installation of solar systems.

The meeting revealed the project’s total cost is Rs 18.206 billion. It will provide solar home systems to 275,000 deserving families, including 132,000 off-grid and 143,000 on-grid users.

Officials stated each family will receive a 180-watt solar panel and accessories. So far, 11,571 systems have been installed in various districts.

The installation process is ongoing in districts like Ghotki, Umerkot, Dadu, Tharparkar, and Karachi. The project began in April 2025 and will complete by June 2027.

It is noteworthy that the on-grid project includes users consuming up to 100 units of electricity, while the off-grid project targets poor families in remote areas.
