Bannu: (RightNow) A suicide attack attempt was made near Miryan Police Station in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday evening. Attackers tried to enter the police station after a vehicle explosion.

DPO Bannu Furqan Bilal stated that a firefight ensued between police officers and attackers following the explosion. One police officer was martyred, and five individuals were injured in the attack.

The injured were immediately taken to District Headquarters Hospital Bannu for medical aid. Local authorities have cordoned off the area and initiated a search and clearance operation.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Bannu Division and other senior officials visited the hospital. They inquired about the injured and assessed the security situation.

It is noteworthy that the funeral prayer for the martyred police officer was held with state honors at Police Lines Bannu. Senior civil and military officials attended and paid tribute to the martyr.
