The US has started testing electric air taxis, transporting patients’ organs to promote air taxi usage.
Washington: (Right Now News) The testing of electric air taxis has commenced in the US. Under the Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Transportation, initial flights have transported patients’ organs.
The pilot program for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft in the US has seen successful initial tests. The aim of this program is to assess the operational capability and safety of air taxis.
Experts suggest that air taxis are an effective solution to reduce traffic congestion. However, regulatory issues have led companies to delay commercial services.
The program was initiated under an executive order by President Donald Trump. It includes eight projects across 26 states, with Beta Technologies taking a leading role.
It is noteworthy that the company’s electric air taxi aircraft could receive certification by 2028, while another aircraft is expected to gain approval by 2027.
