Islamabad: (Right Now News) The National Assembly and Senate budget sessions are scheduled for June 5. A special meeting of the federal cabinet will also be held on the same day, while the National Economic Survey will be released on June 4.

The proposed budget for 2026-27 is set at 17.1 trillion rupees. The economic growth target is 4.1%, with an estimated average inflation rate of 8.4%. The petroleum levy target is set at 1,727 billion rupees.

The tax revenue target for the upcoming fiscal year is 15,267 billion rupees. The federal PSDP is expected to be 1.1 trillion rupees. Proposed allocations include 7,824 billion rupees for debt servicing and 2,665 billion rupees for defense.

A dispute has arisen between the government and public employees ahead of the new budget announcement. The government has promised relief to employees and pensioners in line with inflation, but employees are demanding a 100% increase.

It is noteworthy that the public employees’ organization has decided to stage a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Finance and Parliament on the day of the budget. The spokesperson stated that protests will occur if the charter of demands is not met.
