Budapest: (Right Now News) Hungary’s newly elected Prime Minister, Peter Magyar, has announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could be arrested if he visits Hungary. An International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant exists against Netanyahu.

Magyar told Reuters that if a country is an ICC member and a warrant exists against someone in its territory, it is necessary to arrest them. He informed Netanyahu that Hungary intends to rejoin the ICC system.

The current Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, had established close ties with Netanyahu’s government and withdrew Hungary from the ICC in 2025.

This move is significant as it demonstrates Hungary’s commitment to upholding its international legal obligations.

It is noteworthy that in 2024, the ICC issued warrants against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes in Gaza. Both leaders have denied these allegations.
