Islamabad: (Right Now News) According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad have entered a crucial phase. Following the completion of the first round, another round at the expert and technical team level has commenced.
In Pakistan’s capital, a trilateral meeting between the US, Pakistan, and Iran also took place. According to Pakistani sources, this meeting lasted approximately 2 hours.
The US delegation included Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, while the Iranian delegation comprised Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to Iranian news agency Fars News, written messages were exchanged between expert teams from Iran and the US during the talks hosted by Pakistan. This development emerged during the technical phase of the ongoing discussions in Islamabad, where another expert-level phase reportedly began after the first round.
The talks have now entered a detailed and technical discussion phase. In the second round, expert-level points related to practical outcomes were discussed. Sources indicate that both parties initially held firm positions, but there are reports of some progress on issues such as Israeli attacks in Lebanon, Iran’s frozen assets, the Strait of Hormuz, and other matters.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan is playing a facilitative role in this entire process, and these talks are seen as an effort to reduce recent tensions in the Middle East.
