Orkney Islands: (Right Now News). The world’s shortest scheduled passenger flight operates in Scotland’s Orkney Islands. This flight between Westray and Papa Westray is completed in just one and a half minutes.

The distance between the two islands is only 2.7 kilometers. A small Loganair Islander aircraft is used on this route, accommodating one pilot and eight passengers.

This flight has been operational since 1967 and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. A former pilot completed the journey in 56 seconds in 2013. The one-way fare for the route is 17 pounds.

Passengers do not undergo lengthy airport procedures. Luggage is checked in 10 minutes before departure, and passengers can carry up to 15 kilograms of baggage.

It is noteworthy that Papa Westray hosts a Neolithic historical site. A unique travel certificate is issued upon return from Kirkwall Airport.
