Lahore: (RightNow) The delay in central contracts is causing growing anxiety among players. Poor performance during the England tour has led to the postponement of the contract announcement. Progress is expected only with improved performance in the home season.

The contract will be effective from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The team was briefed before departing for the West Indies and England in July. A list of 30 players was prepared, but the matter stalled after poor performance in England.

Sources indicate that Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, and Shan Masood might be excluded. The list was prepared using an American company’s computer software algorithm. Test players will not receive NOCs for foreign leagues but can play red-ball cricket.

Several cricketers are keen on T20 specialist contracts, stating they are always available to represent the country. Players in Category C face no obstacles.

It is noteworthy that senior category players must play at least 4 Tests, 6 ODIs, or T20 matches. Category A players will receive a monthly salary of 4 million rupees.
