Pakistan is among the top 10 countries affected by the global hunger crisis, worsened by economic challenges and climate disasters.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Today marks the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty worldwide, including in Pakistan. The day aims to eliminate poverty and deprivation and protect human rights.
President of Pakistan, Asif Zardari, emphasized the need for concrete measures to eradicate poverty in the country. He stated that strengthening social protection systems and improving access to education and healthcare are essential.
According to an international report, Pakistan is among the top 10 countries most affected by the global hunger crisis. Economic challenges and climate disasters have exacerbated food insecurity for vulnerable groups.
This crisis has intensified in Pakistan due to poverty, high food prices, and limited job opportunities. Unfavorable prices of agricultural commodities and economic instability have made access to adequate food difficult.
It is noteworthy that climate-related disasters, such as floods and droughts, are major causes of food insecurity. Families dependent on crops and livestock face severe challenges.
