Karachi: (RightNow) Charging a smartphone via a car’s USB port is possible, but the speed is very slow. Many people face this issue when their phone battery is nearly depleted during travel.

The reason is that a car’s USB port provides limited current, typically up to half an ampere. This current is insufficient for charging phones, resulting in reduced charging speed.

USB-C technology has helped improve the charging speed of car USB ports. It offers charging 20 times faster than USB-A, yet issues persist due to limited current.

This issue is significant because modern phone chargers provide 5 to 9 volts, while home outlets offer 120 volts. In contrast, a car’s USB port supplies only 2.5 watts of current.

It is important to note that limited power supply from USB ports causes difficulties in charging smartphone batteries. The solution lies in using chargers with better charging speeds.
