Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has decided to purchase 45 bulletproof vehicles for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad next year. This decision aims to ensure the safety of heads of state and high-level delegations attending the summit.

According to the Cabinet Division, the summit is scheduled for August or September 2027, with delegations from international organizations also participating. Ensuring high security standards is crucial due to the significance of the event.

The Cabinet Division stated that the current bulletproof vehicles are 2016 models and do not meet the required standards. Therefore, new vehicles will be procured to provide safe travel facilities.

In addition to the 45 bulletproof vehicles, approximately 300 non-bulletproof vehicles will be rented for the summit. This measure aims to improve logistics during the event.

It is important to note that the SCO summit is a significant international gathering for Pakistan, necessitating high standards of security and logistics.
