Dhaka: (RightNow) Bangladesh has increased petroleum product prices by 17.4%. The new price of petrol is 160 taka per liter, and diesel is 135 taka per liter.

According to the Bangladeshi news agency, the price of kerosene has also risen from 135 to 155 taka per liter. These prices are effective from today.

Bangladesh’s Ministry of Energy states that global fuel prices have more than doubled since March 2026, impacting the national economy.

Due to regional tensions, freight costs have also increased, leading to higher production costs for industries.

It is noteworthy that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation faced a loss of 228.76 billion taka from March to August, posing a significant challenge to the economy.
