Islamabad: (RightNow) A new biometric verification system has been implemented for federal pensioners. Pension payments will continue directly into bank accounts.

Commercial banks’ role in pensioners’ biometric verification has been eliminated. The Ministry of Finance has issued new SOPs for digital verification and payment of pensions. Verification of life will be conducted through NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority).

NADRA will send pensioners’ digital life signals directly to the relevant departments. Banks will only act as agents for pension payments. Biometric data will not be collected or stored.

The paper-based pension delivery system has been abolished. Pensioners can verify their life status through NADRA’s Pak-ID app. Verification will also be possible via mobile units.

It is important to note that the new SOP applies to retired federal government employees and eligible family pensioners. The aim is to enhance transparency and convenience in the verification process.
