Washington: (RightNow) The US House of Representatives has approved a sanctions bill against Iran and Russia with a vote of 262 to 159. The bill now awaits President Donald Trump’s approval.

The legislation aims to increase economic pressure on Russia and extend the duration of sanctions on Iran. The bill extends the Iran Sanctions Act by an additional five years.

The bill includes a clause to extend the current law’s term from the end of 2026 to 2031. According to US media, the bill has support from Republicans and 58 Democrats.

The bill has already passed the Senate, so after the House’s approval, it only requires the President’s signature. This move is considered significant on a global scale.

It is noteworthy that the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 already imposed sanctions on Iran, which have now been further extended.
