London: (RightNow) A study in the UK reveals that a sedentary lifestyle or prolonged sitting can increase cancer risk. Researchers state that just 15 minutes of daily physical activity can reduce this risk by 2%.

The study analyzed over 59,000 individuals with an average age of 61. Their physical activities were tracked using smartwatches, and their health was monitored over 8 years.

Experts noted that everyday physical activities, such as grocery shopping or using stairs instead of elevators, help reduce cancer risk.

This research is significant as it shows that even minimal physical activities can lower the risk of life-threatening diseases like cancer. The findings were published in the journal BMC Medicine.

It is important to note that staying physically active reduces the risk of various cancers, such as bladder, breast, bowel, and stomach cancers.
