Riyadh: (RightNow) Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company confirms an attack on its vessel in the Red Sea. The company states that all crew members are safe, with no injuries reported.

The Houthi group from Yemen claims responsibility for targeting the vessel named Amzan with ballistic missiles. Details on the nature and potential damage of the attack are not immediately available.

According to an Arab broadcasting agency, the Houthis targeted the Saudi oil tanker with a ballistic missile. A Houthi spokesperson claims the missile attack was direct, causing a fire on the ship.

The attack occurred near the coast of the Saudi city of Yanbu, but Saudi Arabia has not confirmed the Houthi claims. The British maritime agency reported the attack.

It is noteworthy that previous attacks on oil tankers in the Red Sea have raised concerns for global trade.
