Tehran: (RightNow) The Iranian rial has experienced a historic decline, with the open market rate for one US dollar surpassing 2 million rials.

Reports indicate that the Iranian currency began the week at 1.865 million rials per dollar, but further depreciation was recorded.

The increase in Iran’s economic pressure is attributed to potential US sanctions and stalled diplomatic efforts.

The falling currency value has led to rising prices of goods in Iran, increasing public unrest.

It is noteworthy that in the 1970s, one dollar was approximately equal to 70 rials, whereas now it requires over 2 million rials.
