Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab is expected to hold local elections in the last week of December. Sources indicate that the Punjab government has proposed elections between December 15 and January 15 to the Election Commission.

According to sources, the Election Commission has agreed with the Punjab government’s proposal. The elections are planned to be conducted in three phases. Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq stated that elections will be held on the dates provided by the Election Commission.

The Punjab Local Government Minister further mentioned that the Chief Minister is committed to conducting local elections. Time will be needed for resource allocation and security arrangements. The provincial government aims to conduct elections in phases.

These elections are crucial for ensuring transparency in public representation and strengthening the democratic process. They are expected to address public issues effectively.

It is noteworthy that local elections in Punjab were postponed in 2022 due to certain administrative issues.
