The Punjab Bar Council has suspended 777 lawyers’ licenses for failing the Law Gate Test, ensuring professional competence.
Lahore: (RightNow) The Punjab Bar Council has suspended the licenses of 777 lawyers. This action follows their failure in the Law Gate Test.
According to a statement by the Punjab Bar Council, 3,400 lawyers were issued licenses without tests during the COVID-19 pandemic. These lawyers were later instructed to take the Law Gate Test.
The Bar Council stated that from 2022 to 2023, the test was mandated, but 777 lawyers have not yet passed. Their licenses have been suspended.
This decision is significant for assessing the competence of lawyers. The aim is to ensure the professional abilities of the lawyers.
It is noteworthy that temporary licenses were issued to lawyers during the pandemic on the High Court’s directive. Now, those lawyers cannot practice law without passing the test.
