Lahore: (RightNow) Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has set a condition to lead in all formats before accepting the Test captaincy. This demand was revealed in an Indian media report.

According to the report, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approached Babar Azam for the Test team leadership. After Shan Masood’s poor performance, PCB selectors were searching for a new captain.

Babar Azam met with two selectors on July 5 before the Test captain announcement. The report claims Babar demanded future leadership in all formats.

The report stated that if Pakistan performs well against West Indies and England, Babar will be given captaincy in all formats. Current ODI captain Shaheen Afridi was previously removed from T20 captaincy.

It is noteworthy that Babar Azam resigned from captaincy in all formats in November 2023. At that time, he was offered leadership in only one format, which he declined.
