Karachi: (RightNow) Nine drugs used for cancer treatment have been declared fake and illegal. Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory has labeled these drugs as substandard and unregistered.

In a conversation with Geo News, Director of Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory Syed Adnan Rizvi stated that immediate action has been taken based on the laboratory’s report. The drugs include treatments for cancer, diabetes, hemophilia, and Parkinson’s.

Syed Adnan Rizvi mentioned that some cancer drugs lacked active ingredients, and many did not have DRAP registration numbers. Some oncologists prescribe specific pharmacies on prescriptions.

He further added that fake and substandard cancer drugs pose a threat to patients’ lives. These drugs are ineffective and increase the risk of disease progression.

It is noteworthy that Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory has previously conducted inspections, resulting in the removal of several substandard drugs from the market.
