New Delhi: (RightNow) Indian social activist Sonam Wangchuk has announced the end of his 26-day hunger strike. He stated that the decision was made due to prolonged negotiations and concerns over potential violence in the country.

Sonam Wangchuk, in a statement on social media platform X, said he ended his protest after negotiations on various terms. He also mentioned that considering the potential for unrest in the country, this step was necessary.

During this time, Wangchuk ended his hunger strike in the presence of Union ministers and top leadership from Leh Ladakh. 65 members of parliament had also requested him to end the hunger strike.

It is important to note that Wangchuk’s strike was in support of the Cockroach Movement led by youth in India. The movement participants demanded the resignation of the Minister of Education.

It should be remembered that protesters are calling for the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for transparency in the examination system. Despite Wangchuk’s announcement, the protest movement continues.
