New Delhi: (RightNow) Indian social activist Sonam Wangchuk demands the government assure no legal or retaliatory action against protesting students before ending his hunger strike.

Sonam Wangchuk thanked federal ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh in a letter for considering his demands. He stated that after the government’s assurance, he would appeal to students to halt protests and engage in dialogue with the government.

He demanded compensation for the families of students who committed suicide after the NEET exam paper leak and called for a meaningful debate on the education system in Parliament.

Sonam Wangchuk expressed his desire to end the hunger strike and resume work for students and education but not at the cost of young lives.

It is noteworthy that Sonam Wangchuk announced an indefinite hunger strike if the government fails to provide assurance.
