Why Are Prices of 27 Essential Items Rising Again in Pakistan?

Islamabad: (RightNow) Inflation has surged in the second week of the current fiscal year, with prices of 27 essential items increasing. According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, prices of 4 items decreased while 20 remained stable.

Statistics reveal that potatoes rose by 0.85% and chicken by 14.66%, while onions increased by 1.53% and tomatoes by 22.79%. Eggs became 2.15% more expensive, and LPG prices rose by 12.46%.

Garlic prices increased by 3.72%, petrol by 4.40%, and high-speed diesel by 4.41%. The price of tea leaves also saw a 1.56% rise.

Sugar prices fell by 0.36%, and bananas by 0.80%, while moong lentils decreased by 0.70% and masoor lentils by 0.10%.

It is noteworthy that the inflation rate increased by 1.40% in the recent week, with the annual rate rising from 11.94% to 13.09%.
