In Shenzhen, a robot decapitated its opponent in China’s first MMA event, featuring global teams.
Shenzhen: (RightNow) For the first time, humanoid robots competed in an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) event in Shenzhen. A robot delivered a powerful head kick, decapitating its opponent.
This unique competition was hosted by Engine AI at the Shenzhen Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center. Hollywood actor Donnie Yen made a special appearance.
Over 200 teams from 10 countries participated, with 32 teams reaching the finals. All teams were provided with Engine AI’s ‘T-800′ robots.
Renowned universities like the University of California, Stanford, and Tsinghua University took part. The prize money was 10 million yuan.
It is noteworthy that the robots’ performance was evaluated based on motion control, balance, and technical standards.
