Islamabad court reserves decision on bail for 4 accused in illegal placenta trade case.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The Islamabad District and Sessions Court heard the case of illegal human placenta trade. The court reserved its verdict on the bail applications of 4 accused after concluding arguments.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka presided over the hearing. Defense lawyers argued that placenta is not classified as a human organ and has medical benefits. It is used for hair regrowth treatments.
Judge Majoka humorously asked the defense lawyer if placenta was used for his own hair regrowth. The lawyer replied that it is possible, as there are various medical methods for hair restoration.
The prosecution informed the court that over 1,000 human placentas were recovered. All accused were arrested at the scene, and medical experts’ reports were presented in court.
It is noteworthy that the sale of human placenta is illegal, and the accused face serious charges in this case.
