Lahore: (RightNow) The Punjab government has suspended wheat supply permits, raising concerns of 45 flour mills potentially shutting down in Islamabad. Flour prices have surged in various cities across the country.

The Flour Mills Association has expressed concern over the suspension of wheat supply permits. They have demanded the immediate restoration of these permits.

The association has warned that mills in Rawalpindi might also close, leading to increased black marketing. They have appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab for urgent intervention.

The price of wheat has reached 4 thousand rupees per maund. The Pakistan Flour Mills Association has requested the government to import wheat to control flour prices.

It is noteworthy that due to the rise in flour prices, the cost of bread and naan has also increased. Tandoor owners have appealed to the government for flour supply.
