New York: (Right Now News) Iran has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its absence at the United Nations Security Council meeting regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Iran stated that Pakistan’s absence from the vote was a show of support.

Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, issued a statement after the meeting, thanking Pakistan and Somalia. He also praised Russia and China, who opposed the meeting.

The meeting was convened at the request of Bahrain and five European countries. It reviewed the implementation of Iran’s nuclear agreement.

The Iranian representative stated that the term of Resolution 2231 has expired, thus there is no legal basis for further discussion. He also rejected the European countries’ attempts to reinstate sanctions.

It is important to note that Iran maintains its nuclear program is entirely for peaceful purposes and is under international supervision.
