Gilgit-Baltistan Elections: PPP Leads, PML-N in Second Place

Skardu: (Right Now News) In the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) secured the most votes. According to unofficial results, PPP received 30% of the votes, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates garnered 22%.

Further details reveal that the Stability Pakistan Party obtained 8% of the votes, and independent candidates received 29%. Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Islami Tehreek Pakistan both secured 4% of the votes.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) candidates received 2% of the votes, whereas independent candidates supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured 11%. Overall, 522,617 votes were cast in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.

In the elections, MWM secured one seat, while results from two constituencies in Astore are still pending. Sources indicate that the Chief Minister will likely be from PPP, while the Governor could be from PML-N.

It is important to note that elections in Gilgit-Baltistan lead to significant political changes. The election results play a crucial role in forming the provincial government.
